Welcome to my first grade class! I have taught Kindergarten for the last 4 years here at OJA. Aside from a few weeks of student teaching, this is my first time teaching first grade. I am absolutely thrilled to go on this new journey with your child for it is one of the most important transitions in the world of learning.
Allow me to share a little bit about myself. I was born in Rhode Island and grew up in the Orlando area. I enjoy many things that life has to offer but my absolute favorite things are traveling, kayaking, white water rafting, and spending time with family and friends. I am known to be an ice cream lover! I am married to a wonderful man, Kevin, and celebrated 2 years of wedded bliss this past summer!
As I look at my class list I can’t help but be excited about having the opportunity to work with many of the same students from last year, and to have new ones join our family! When I was in elementary school I had the chance to have the same teacher from grades 3-5. The experience was literally priceless. It is the reason I am a teacher today. This summer, thirteen years later, I went to visit that teacher and it was a real treat!
My goal for this school year is to continue to nurture a love/interest of learning in your child, by creating a safe and exciting learning environment. My objective is to have the students not only master this year’s content but be prepared for 2nd grade. I believe that the parent is the child’s number one educator. If we work together we can help your child achieve great success! God bless.
